Team Dynamix to celebrate Otis Amey

Team Dynamix will host a party that will celebrate wide receiver OTIS AMEY’s signing with the Sacramento Mountain Lions.

This celebration will take place on Friday, August 6, 2010 at Sacramento State. The Mountain Lions have been invited to take part in this Team Dynamix event and are excited to do so.

Amey has signed his contract and the contact is expected to be approved by the United Football League this week.

Friday’s event, which will include Mountain Lions cheerleaders, begins at 5:45 p.m. in the Sacramento State Alumni Center Ballroom. It will run until about 7:15 p.m.

Amey was a standout receiver while at Sacramento State from 2001-05. He holds all of the Hornets' major receiving and return records including: career receptions (248), career receiving touchdowns (27), season receptions (76), receptions in a single game (15) and career kickoff return yards (1,687).

He signed with the San Francisco 49ers in 2005 as an undrafted free agent. He worked his way through training camp and earned a spot on the roster. In his first regular season game against the St. Louis Rams, he returned a punt 75 yards for a touchdown. He played in 11 games over the course of the season, averaging 17.2 yards per kick return and 11.4 yards per punt return.

Amey has also played for the Atlanta Falcons (two preseason games), Austin Wranglers, Cleveland Gladiators, BC Lions and Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

According to its website, the Team Dynamix mission is to be a catalyst of change. Not just in respect to the individuals’ or teams’ performance, but to change the essence of the athlete, individual, team, and coach and make them ambassadors of character on and off the field.

Team Dynamix has selected Amey as a professional athlete that exemplifies hard work, perseverance and character both on and off the field.

“I want to share my story with upcoming athletes,” said Amey, 28, about the upcoming event. “It’s about family and being professional and keeping track of things in your life and balance. There is more to this than just football.”

Amey is very active in the community with mentoring and motivational speaking. He regularly volunteers at elementary schools to work with autistic children as well. Amey spends much of his spare time speaking at schools and churches and trying to spread positive vibes.

Amey, who is married to his college sweetheart, is also an active ambassador to Sacramento State. He mentors and helps train student athletes on a weekly, and sometimes daily, basis.

“Personally, after my father, (Amey) is the most selfless person I have ever met,” said Brandon Jackson, a Team Dynamix representative and a long-time acquaintance of Amey. “From breaking practically every receiving record at Sac State, to going undrafted (in the NFL), to signing an NFL contract – he never deviated from his true moral fiber. In fact the more and more success he attains, the more and more he tends to give back.”
